World Pulses Day Celebration at Sasya Shyamala Krishi Vigyan Kendra

On February 10, 2022, SSKVK, in collaboration with ICAR-NBSS&LUP, Regional Centre, Kolkata, organized one-day training on crop planning and production under SCSP scheme for Majherpara village of Canning II block of South 14 Parganas. The KVK also celebrated World Pulses Day with different other Institutes in both online and offline mode. Participants for the World Pulse Day celebration was 97. Total 57 participants attended the one-day training programme. Scientists from ICAR-NBSS&LUP and Subject Matter Specialists from the KVK delivered lecture on importance of pulse crops, ways to develop entrepreneurs by producing and selling quality seeds of pulse crops etc. Continue reading →

Farmers interactive programme on “Commemoration of 75 years of Independence Bharat Ka Amrit Mahotsav”

Sasya Shyamala Krishi Vigyan Kendra organized the “Farmers interactive programme on “Commemoration of 75 years of Independence Bharat Ka Amrit Mahotsav”” sponsored by ATMA, Soutn 24 Parganas, Govt. of West Bengal on 4th February, 2022 at training hall of Sasya Shyamala Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Arapanch, Sonarpur, South 24 Parganas, Kolkata-700150. The programme has been start with lighting the lamp with Vedic Chanting. Dr. Narayan Chandra Sahu, Head, SSKVK on behalf of the KVK, delivered the welcome address and narrated the importance of the today’s programme of  75 years of Independence Bharat Ka Amrit Mahotsav..Revered Swami Sarvalokananda Ji Maharaj, Hon’ble Secretary of R.K. Mission Ashrama, Narendrapur mentioned the importance of pulse in human life and influenced the farmers in pulse production at the present socio-economic condition in their speech. Dr. Sanjay Bhomik, ADA, Fertilizer delivered a speech on different Govt. schemes and constraint of pulse production in district. Dr. Krishnendu Ray discussed on improved approaches for increasing pulses production. Dr. Abhijit Ghosal discussed on integrated pest management of pulse crops. Dr. Ram Babu Raman discussed varietal replacement and their seed production for increasing area & productivity of pulse crops.

World population is projected to increase to 9 billion by2050. By 2022 India will become the most populous country in the world surpassing China and it is going to be the 3largest economy in the world by 2030 accompanied by arise in urbanization levels which will lead to a change in dietary needs. To accommodate this huge population, food production has to be increased and that too from the declining available cultivable land resource. Besides,climate change is another factor influencing the agriculture by alteration of a biotic stress, in return changes of biotic stress too. So, sustainable production and increasing productivity of existing agricultural land is an important aspect to address global food security. A walk-in interview will be held at the Sasya Shyamala Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Educational and Research Institute (RKMVERI), Arapanch, P.O. Sonarpur, Dist.-South 24 Parganas, Kolkata-700150 for engagement of a Skilled Manpower for field survey on purely temporary basis for maximum three months (90 days) under ICAR-CIMMYT collaborative project on Cereal Systems Initiative for South Asia (CSISA) –  Production Practices Survey for South 24 Parganas district at the Sasya Shyamala Krishi Vigyan Kendra, RKMVERI, Arapanch.

A walk-in interview will be held  on 27th Dec, 2018 at Sasya Shyamala Krishi Vigyan Kendra, RKMVERI, at its office at Arapanch for engagement in purely temporary vacancy under Rashtriya Krishi Vikash Yojana (RKVY), Department of Agriculture, Govt. of West Bengal, sponsored project on “Infrastructure Development for Soil, Plant and Fish Health Diagnostic and Management Units” running in the Sasya Shyamala Krishi Vigyan Kendra, RKMVERI. The vacancies are co-terminus with the completion of the project or will depend on performance and behaviour of the incumbent as decided by the authority or other engagement criteria to be mentioned in the offer letter.

The job will require lab work, field visit as well as field work in the instructional farm of the KVK. Incumbent engaged for a specified work may be required to work in other areas as per instruction of the Head of the KVK.
