World Fisheries Day (WFD) is celebrated every year on 21st November by fishing communities across the globe. This was started in 1997 when the World Forum on Fish Harvesters and Fisheries Workers met in New Delhi and the World Fisheries Forum was established with representatives from 18 countries.
The theme for this year’s WFD was ‘Celebrate the Fisheries and Aquaculture Wealth.’ It was celebrated at the Sasya Shyamala Krishi Vigyan Kendra, RKMVERI on 21st November, 2023. Thirty fish farmers and the staff of the KVK participated in the programme. Dr. B. K. Mahapatra, Ex- Principal Scientist and Head, ICAR-CIFE Kolkata Centre was the Chief Guest of the programme.
