Krishi Mela and Exhibition – 2024 (7-9 February) was organized by Sasya Shyamala Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Educational and Research Institute (RKMVERI) on the Theme: Drone Technology and Smart Agriculture
It was inaugurated by Revered Swami Shastrajnanandaji Mj., Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Narendrapur in presence of Dr. Pradip Dey, Director, ICAR-ATARI Kolkata, Swami Shivapurnanandaji Mj, Asstt Administrative Head and Vice Chairman, Sasya Shyamala KVK, RKMVERI, Prof. Tapas Dasgupta, Dean, IRDM F/c, RKMVERI, Dr. Kumaravel V., Head of the Department of National Institute of Homoeopathy.
Total 46 stalls were installed by six ICAR Institutes, SLUSI, IFFCO, FPCs, NGOs, State and Central Govt Departments depicting different technologies and achievements.
Total six technical sessions on the Theme and technologies were held in three days. A technical session was held on “Drone Technology and Smart Agriculture” which was Chaired by Dr. Pradip Dey, Director of ICAR-ATARI Kolkata and Co-chaired by Dr. Krishnendu Das, Ex-Principal Scientist, ICAR-NBSSLUP Kolkata Centre. Dr. Buddheswar Maji, Ex-Head, ICAR-CSSRI Canning Centre delivered a lecture on “Climate Smart Agriculture” and Dr. Santanu Banik, Head, ICAR-NDRI ERS delivered a lecture on “Smart Animal Husbandry Practices”.
Questions were asked to the participants on the discussions and lectures in all the sessions. Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Ministry of I&B, Govt. of India awaded the participants with prizes who could give right answer.
Cultural programmes and magic shows were held everyday evening arranged by CBC for promotion of the benefits of the government schemes to the farmers.
About 5000 farmers, farm women and rural youths and other stakeholders visited the Mela and participated in the Technical Sessions.
Prizes (1st, 2nd and 3rd) were given to the farmers who participated in the competitive Agricultural Exhibition.
Operation of drone and spraying of pesticides and liquid fertilizers using drone was demonstrated to the farmers for generating awareness.
Eight Achiever Farmers in different fields were felicitated for their outstanding success in technology adoption and entrepreneurship development.
