Sasya Shyamala Krishi Vigyan Kendra (SSKVK), Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Educational and Research Institute (RKMVERI) successfully hosted a One-Day Capacity Building Programme on Seed Certification for Seed Growers under the Sub-Mission on Seed & Planting Material (SMSP) (WB-98) Krishiunnati Yojana 2026–27, on 7 August 2026. The programme was sponsored by the West Bengal State Seed Certification Agency (WBSSCA), Tollygunge, under the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of India.
The programme was graced by the esteemed presence of Revered Swami Kaleshanandaji Maharaj, Registrar, RKMVERI; Revered Brahmachari Soumitra Maharaj, Monk-in-Charge, Sasya Shyamala Krishi Vigyan Kendra, RKMVERI; Dr. Swagat Ghosh, Senior Scientist & Head, SSKVK, RKMVERI; Sri Dipak Biswas, Deputy Director of Agriculture (Administration), WBSSCA; Sri Mrigendranath Jana, Assistant Director of Agriculture (SI & QC), WBSSCA; and Sri Balai Chandra Mandal, Assistant Director of Agriculture (Seed Certification), WBSSCA.
The programme witnessed the active participation of 75 seed growers from the Canning-I, Canning-II, Gosaba, Patharpratima, Mathurapur-I, Sagar, and Bhangar blocks of South 24 Parganas. Through expert technical sessions on seed certification procedures, the SATHI Portal, and plant protection technologies, the participants gained practical knowledge to enhance the production of quality certified seeds and strengthen sustainable agriculture in the region.
The programme concluded with an interactive discussion and feedback session, reaffirming the commitment of SSKVK, RKMVERI and WBSSCA towards building the capacity of seed growers and promoting quality seed production in West Bengal.
