Krishi Mela (14-16 February) organized by Sasya Shyamala Krishi Vigyan Kendra, RKMVERI was inaugurated on 14th February, 2023 in the hands of Swami Shivapurnanandaji Maharaj, Assistant Administrative Head IRDM Faculty Centre RKMVERI and Dr. Pradip Dey, Director, ICAR-ATARI Kolkata in presence of Dr. Gokul Debnath, Ex-DDG (Meteorology), Alipore Regional Meteorology Centre and Senior Consultant, Dept of Disaster Management, Govt. of WB, Dr. F. H. Rahman, Principal Scientist, ATARI, Dr. N. J. Maitra, Dy. DREF, WBUAFS, Mr. Chandan Paul, Dy. Director of Agriculture (Admin.) and Mr. Koushik Chakraborty, Dy. Director, Dept. of FPI and Horticulture, Govt. of West Bengal. Theme of Krishi Mela was: Natural Farming and Farmers Producer Organization. Dr. F. H. Rahman delivered a lecture on “Natural Farming” and Dr. Gokul Debnath delivered a lecture on “Weather Forecasting and Disaster Management in Agriculture”. Agricultural DRONES were inaugurated by the Director, ATARI Kolkata Dr. Pradip De. Cultural programmes were also held in the evening.
There are total 38 stalls of which nine are by ICAR institutes (CRIJAF, NINFET, NBSSLUP Kolkata Centre, CIFE Kolkata Centre, CIFRI, CIBA Kakdwip Centre, NBFGR Lucknow, IVRI ERS Kolkata), Dept of Agricultural Marketing, Min of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, GoI, Dhaanyaganga KVK, Murshidabad, Ramkrishna Ashrama KVK Nimpith, IFFCO, Coconut Development Board, WB-SAMETI, DAESI students of SSKVK, Bhangar Vegetables Producer Company Ltd, Bharat Krishak Samaj, Entrepreneurs Developed by SSKVK and Technology stalls of the Sasya Shyamla Krishi Vigyan Kendra.
In the second day morning, a workshop was organized on “FPO/FPC: for Enhancing Bargaining Power of Farmers”. Swami Shivapurnanandaji Maharaj was present. Dr. Sukanta Dasgupta, DDA (Seed Certification) was the Chairman of the session. Mr. Partha Bhattacharya, Ex-Dy. General Manager and WB State Marketing Manager of IFFCO, Mr. Tapas Bhattacharya, Asst. Marketing Advisor, Dept.of Marketing and Inspection, Min. of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Govt. of India, Mr. Arkaprabha Sarkar, District Horticulture Officer, Baruipur Sub Division and Md. Abdul Jaffar Khan, Director of Bhangar Vegetables Producer Company Ltd delivered lectures on different aspects of FPO/FPCs. Sixty five members of different FPOs and FPCs attended the programme.
In the afternoon session a Seminar was organized on the facilities and schemes of different line departments. One hundred Farmers and Farm Women participated in the programme. Mr. Arkaprabha Sarkar and Dr. K.P. Roy, BLDO, Sonarpur Block described in detail about the govt. facilities for the farmers. Dr. Partha S. Banerjee, Principal Scientist and Head, ICAR-IVRI Eastern Regional Station Chaired the Session.
A Shruti Natak (Audio Drama) named “Sri Ramakrishna” was held by Mr. Pratyay Roychowdhury, Mr. Tapan Mishra and their group in the evening.
In the last day (16th February, 2023) of the Krishi Mela-2023 Dr. Sujan Chakraborty, Ex-MP and Ex-MLA, Jadavpur Parliamentary and Legislative Constituencies was the Chief Guest. A Farmer-Scientist Interaction was held. Best Stall Awards were given to the stalls of Dept of Marketing and Inspection, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Govt of India, Nimpith KVK and ICAR-CIBA. Seven Farmers, Farm Women and Rural Youths were felicitated for their achievements in different fields with the technological assistance of the KVK. Participants of DAESI course staged a one act Drama.
