One Awareness Generation Programme on (National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL)was organized by National Accreditation Board (a Constituent of Quality Council of India) and ICAR-ATARI, Kolkata in collaboration with Sasya Shyamala KVK(SSKVK), RKMVERI on 15th April, 2024 in the Seminar Hall of the SSKVK, RKMVERI, Arapanch, Sonarpur, South 24 Parganas Kolkata-700150 for the Representatives of Soil Testing Laboratories of KVKs, ICAR Institutes, Universities, NGOs and state government. Mrs. Malancha Das and Dr. R. K. Mandal, Dy. Directors and Lead Assessors of NABL discussed in details about the importance and protocols of Recognition/Accreditation of Soil Testing Laboratories. Dr. Tamal Kanti Jana, State Agricultural Chemist in his address discussed about the implementation of soil health card scheme, lack of staff and resources for effective Soil Testing. Swami Shivapurnanandaji Maharaj, Assistant Administrative Head, IRDM F/c and Vice Chairman of Sasya Shyamala KVK RKMVERI was the Chief Guest of the programme. He emphasized in his address about maintaining quality of testing samples. Dr. Pradip Dey, Director ICAR-ATARI Kolkata discussed about the National level initiatives of the Govt. of India to bring all the service provider Laboratories under NABL Recognition/Accreditation scheme for assuring quality of the Soil Testing Laboratories in view of the government ‘s flagship scheme of Soil Health Card. About 47 Soil Scientists/In-Charges of state level Soil Testing Laboratory and other Laboratories of KVKs, RKMVERI, VIB, Nimpith KVK, SSKVK, ATC, ICAR-NINFET, ICAR-CSSRI, Canning and SLUSI of Kolkata and South 24 Parganas participated in the programme.
