Agricultural Technology Awareness Programme under Vivekananda Krishi Mitra Prakalpa in commemoration of the 125th Anniversary of Ramakrishna Mission at  Nafarganj area of Basanti block. The program was jointly organized by ‘Sasya Shyamala’ Krishi Vigyan Kendra along with Basanti Krishi Bikash Producer Company Limited. Today, October 8, 2023, Sunday, also marks the auspicious birth anniversary of Swami Avedanandaji, who was a fellow disciple of Ramakrishna Paramahansadeb and the founder of Ramakrishna Vedanta Math. Mr. Kashinath Mohanty, Agricultural Marketing Officer (Jute Grading), Barasat, North 24 Parganas has chaired as special guest on this occasion. Dr. Swagat Ghosh, SMS of Fisheries and Dr. Rambabu Raman, SMS of Genetics & Plant breeding of Shyamala Krishi Vigyan Kendra and President of Basanti Krishi Bikash Producer Company Shri. Tapan Maiti also addressed about the rural technology for livelihood. In the presence of more than 100 farmers, agricultural marketing, current advanced agricultural and fisheries technologies and its potential in Sundarbans were discussed. Success stories of marginal farmers from different regions showed through video presentation.
The distinguished guests spoke about the 125 years of activities of the Ramakrishna Math and Mission, and the outline of the future course. May 1, 1897. Swami Vivekananda convened a meeting of Sri Ramakrishna’s devotees at Balaram Bose’s house in Bagbazar, Kolkata. At the very beginning of the meeting he proposed to establish a Sangha in the name of Sri Ramakrishna. On May 5, the name of the new Sangha was announced at the second meeting. The name is – Ramakrishna Mission Association. Swamiji became its General President and Swami Brahmananda became the President of Calcutta Centre. Secretory was Narendranath Mitra. The ‘Ramakrishna Mission Association’ received statutory recognition as a registered society on 4 May 1909. Founded on May 1, 1897, the Sangh was legally named the Ramakrishna Mission from then on.
Finally, Dr. Swagat Ghosh, fisheries expert of SSKVK concluded the entire session with formal vote of thanks to all.
