Celebration of National Farmers Day 2025 as well as One day farmers’ training programme on “Arsenic contamination and its management in Agricultural System” was organized on 23.12.2025 at Sasya Shyamala KVK, RKMVERI. The training programme was funded by the University of Salford, UK. The programme started with the welcome address delivered by Dr. Swagat Ghosh, Senior Scientist and Head, Sasya Shyamala KVK, RKMVERI. Dr. Pradip Dey, Director, ICAR-ATARI briefed the importance of this day and also emphasized on agricultural interventions to mitigate arsenic contamination in the food system. Then Br. Soumitra, RKMVERI blessed the participants and told them to be in harmony with the nature. Dr. Jajati Mandal, University Fellow/Lecturer of University of Salford, UK enumerated the importance of arsenic management in Agricultural System. In the technical session, Dr. Hirak Banerjee, Professor, Department of Agronomy and Dr. Kallol Bhattacharyya, Professor, Department of Agricultural Chemistry and Soil Science, BCKV, Mohanpur, Nadia delivered lectures respectively on Crop production and soil health management techniques for arsenic mitigation. Then a total of 10 farmers from different specializations and different Blocks were felicitated by the dignitaries. The programme ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. Jajati Mandal of University of Salford, UK.
