Input distribution and training program on Sustainable Freshwater Fish Farming for Scheduled Caste farmers – 2nd Dec 2024

An input distribution and training program on Sustainable Freshwater Fish Farming for Scheduled Caste farmers was organized by ICAR-National Bureau of Fish Genetic Resources, Lucknow and SSKVK, RKMVERI at Arapanch, Sonarpur. The programme aimed at enhancing the livelihoods of marginalized farmers through advanced aquaculture techniques for schedule caste farmers.

Swami shivapurnanda Ji Maharaj opened the inaugural season with chanting of vaidik mantra. Welcome address by Dr. Swagat Ghosh, Head, in-Charge of SSKVK, Dr. Uttam kumar Sarkar Director, ICAR NBFGR, addressed the program, Dr. Samik Das additional director of fisheries Govt. Of west bengal also explains different schemes in fisheries, several guest speakers and scientists also detailed talk on freshwater fish farming from various ICAR institutions and university.
The event involved collaborations with key representatives from the east kolkata wetland communities.
100 participants have received a fish net, hundi, fish seed, fish feed, ice box, etc and hands-on training during the programme.
